The capacity to change for one’s own betterment is endless.
The lasting warmth in a smile or a kind word is vastly underrated.
Adversity is the breakfast of champions.
Sometimes it is clear from those you love, what NOT to be.
All honest work is honorable even if it is not valued.
If you work too much, all relationships suffer.
All relationships have an ebb and flow. Ebb is not dead.
If love wanes, tend to the relationship enough to find out if it will return. In most instances it will.
When a partner says, “I love you, but I’m not in love with you,” it explains a feeling but does not have to define all of the relationship.
In most instances, to blame a partner for your unhappiness reveals one’s contempt.
Parenting is always tiresome. When children are little, you fall into bed exhausted. When they are teenagers, you don’t sleep wondering where they are, who they are with and what they are doing.
Real friends say the hard things.
Offer criticism as a gift not as a slam.
Never demean, discount or devalue as it will surely lead to betrayal.
Sarcasm may seem witty, but it is hard to hold up under.
Mentoring can happen as easily in a moment as in a lengthy relationship. It’s everyone’s responsibility.
How wonderful it is to bathe in the praise of someone we value.

I don’t know about adversity being the breakfast of champions, but it does seem to be a companion of champions … and everyone else! Thanks for the insightful list.
